This is a used ferrite rod with the very unusual hefty diameter of three quarters of an inch, 0.75". The length is 6 inches, 151mm. A test winding is shown in the pictures. The 1" diameter 80 turn coil measures 45uH when air cored, and 667uH with the ferrite core measured at 200kHz.
You can use this to make radio direction finding antennas, ELF and VLF antennas, magnetic pickups, pipe detectors, lightning storm detectors, time signal receivers, and all manner of low frequency radio fun. There are tiny chips at either end which do not effect the functionality. The test coil is not included. The weight is 202g.
