Transistor Small Signal Low Noise

This is one item of new, small signal, bipolar silicon transistor as shown in the variations. Where available, the higher pack quantities are cheaper per item. Interesting Points

The 2N4403 is a modern PNP type which happens to have a very low base spreading resistance, making it good for low noise pre-amps as seen in the input stage schematic if you search for "Cheap Ambisonic Microphone and UHJ Encoder" on the Interesting Electronics site, or Douglas Self also uses them for low impedance moving coil record player phono cartridge pre-amps in his interesting book.

SS9012H is a PNP type which is mid-way between a low and medium power device. These are capable of more current than a standard TO92 BC560, for example. They are specifically intended for a 1 Watt class B output stage in small radios and are a better match for that application than an under-powered BC549/BC550 pair or an over-powered, more difficult to drive TO126 BD139/BD140.

SS9013H is the NPN complement to the SS9012H.

SS9014H is a standard NPN amplifier / driver that you'd generally use to drive the SS9012 / SS9013

SS9018H is an NPN VHF amplifier / mixer-oscillator that you would find in both the AM and FM RF sections of small radios.

The four types shown immediately above are all the transistors that you need to make small radios and are intended for exactly that application. You'll see them extensively in radios from the far East and may appear in schematics as "S9012," or just "9012."
