This is one item of new, 1A fixed voltage regulator in various voltages as shown. The higher pack quantity options are cheaper per item. 7805 = 5V output
7812 = 12V
7910 = -10V output etc

If you are replacing a part there may be various suffixes like 78L12AC for the voltage tolerance and temperature range. These are not generally of paramount importance in most consumer equipment. A "G" suffix on On semi parts shows RoHs compliance.

There are also various prefixes from various manufacturers like "MC" for On Semiconductor, "LM" for National Semiconductor, "L" for ST etc which are generally unimportant. On Semiconductor is the company that took over the Motorola portfolio. All of the fixed voltages available can be found on this listing.

Also available are the LM317 positive adjustable regulator and the LM337 negative voltage regulator. On these items the output voltage is set by a pair of resistors. There is an LM7805C made by Fairchild, as people do seem to like this specific type for some reason.

The +10V types are sometimes found in older automotive electronics sitting somewhere behind the dashboard to stabilise the supply voltages on the instruments. My old Mini 1275GT had one. In these cases the regulator here will do the job electrically but the pin-out is likely to be different, so some pin-bending adaptation will be required. The +8V version is often seen powering the RF receiver sections in CB radios. Again, these parts will do the job electrically but the pin-out will be different. The metal tabs are internally connected to pin 2, so the tab may require isolation with a mica shim and insulating washer if bolted to a chassis for heat dissipation.
